The Teryx flies. It is the only unit that can attack a field that is not next to its own, striking up to two tiles away and surprising defenders who thought they were safe.
Strengths and weaknesses
As an Infernal unit, the Teryx gets the effectiveness bonus against Primal units, in attack and in defense:
Forest Spirit
Grass Spirit
Guard Naki
Elder Spirit
Nyxi
Astral units get the same bonus against it:
Flying attacks
A field with Teryx (or a Teryx Hero) can attack any field within two tiles. The Infernal Teryx hits hard, but its defense is low: use it for strikes, not for holding ground.
In Ove, Teryx come from Teryx nests on event islands. A Teryx Hero leading them adds the attack bonus of your Teryx Hero Lair.
Skill tree
In Dominion, special units are unlocked in the second stage of the runes: it needs rune level 50, and choosing a special unit costs
2'500'000Soulstones. That is far more than a normal round pays out, so special units are a rare sight. Each special unit has its own skill tree: three core upgrades, then two of four abilities (picking one locks its neighbour), then its hero.
