Island Sieges

In Dominion, islands change hands through sieges. Taking an island's portal starts a short timer, and the island belongs to whoever holds its Crystal Heart when the dust settles.

1. The attack

An attack on another island takes 30 seconds and always lands on its portal. While it is under way, the island is marked on the map and nobody else can attack it. The defender sees the attack coming and can prepare, but cannot send support from other islands. If the attack on the portal fails, nothing else happens.

2. The siege

Winning the portal starts the siege: 3 minutes on common islands, 3.5 minutes on rare islands and the supreme island. Only one player can besiege an island at a time, and during the siege only the attacker moves on the island.

Your goal is the island's Crystal Heart. Fight your way from the portal to it and capture it.

3. The result

  • You capture the Crystal Heart: the siege ends at once and the whole island is yours, every field included.
  • The timer runs out, or your army on the island is gone: the defender wins and gets the whole island back, including the fields you took.
  • An island without a player on it (held by system armies) works the same way: capture the Crystal Heart before the timer runs out to take it.

The winner of a siege also earns Soulstones and Pangoans:

The supreme island

The fight for the supreme island in the centre decides the round. If you take it from the player who holds it, that player loses every other field they own as well, which usually ends their round.

Tips

  • Plan the route from the portal to the Crystal Heart before you attack: the timer is short.
  • Defending? Put your strongest defenders on the fields between the portal and the Crystal Heart, and upgrade their defense.
  • Gatebreaker breaks portals far more easily than any other legend.
