- Target portals: gates that stall other players fall to you almost for free.
- Open sieges quickly. Every island siege starts with the portal, so you reach the target field before the defender can prepare.
- Lead your portal attacks with the starting Nyxi pack.

Portal control is about reach: pair it with aggression to use the ground your breached gates open up.
Watch out for
The bonus only applies to portals; in open-field fights Gatebreaker is an ordinary attacker and can be met head-on by Tank.
