Fights in Rise in Time have no luck in them. Both sides' strength is calculated, the stronger side wins, and the size of the win decides how many of the winner's units survive.
1. Raw strength
Attackers fight with their attack value, defenders with their defense value. The raw strength of a side is the number of each unit times that value, added up. The defense counts every unit on the attacked field, including support from other players.
2. Buffs
All percentage buffs of a side are added up and applied together. The main sources:
3. Effectiveness
Last, the effectiveness bonus from combat types multiplies the result, by up to ×2. Because it multiplies everything else, the right counter often matters more than any single buff.
4. The result
- The side with the higher strength wins. On a tie, the defender wins.
- The losing side loses every unit in the fight.
- The winner keeps a share of its units: the bigger the gap, the more survive. Winning 10'000 to 4'000 keeps 60% of the winning units.
- Plague and healing upgrades, and some unit abilities, can change the losses afterwards.
A full example
100 Guard Naki and 50 Druid Naki attack 25 Vahloc. The attacker has +36% in buffs, the defender +40%.
| Step | Attacker | Defender |
|---|---|---|
| Raw strength | 7'500 | 3'000 |
| After buffs | 10'200 | 4'200 |
| Effectiveness | +80% | +0% |
| Total | 18'360 | 4'200 |
The Guard Naki are Primal and the whole defense is Astral, so the attacker gets an effectiveness bonus equal to the Guard Naki's share of the attack. The attacker wins and keeps about 77% of the army. Swap the combat types and the same armies would give a very different result.
